Graduate Diploma in Engineering

The Graduate Diploma in Engineering is available in the following disciplines:

  • BioEngineering
  • Chemical and Materials Engineering
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Computer Systems Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Engineering Science
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Software Engineering

Who should take this diploma?

  • Persons with a Bachelor's degree but not necessarily in Engineering
  • Persons with a professional qualification in Engineering
  • Professional Engineers with some years' experience who wish to update their skills and knowledge.

Programme Outline

The GradDipEng comprises 120 points of coursework. Students must pass:

a) at least 45 points courses, excluding Project courses, listed in the Master of Engineering Studies schedule.

b) up to 75 points from

(i) courses, excluding Project courses, listed for Parts III and IV in the Bachelor of Engineering Schedule
(ii) courses listed in the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Schedule
(iii) up to 30 points from courses listed for Parts I and II in the Bachelor of Engineering Schedule, with the specific approval of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

Time Limits

The GradDipEng should be completed within two semesters of initial enrolment if enrolled full-time.
